News on the blog

Since I found Stacking the Shelves last week I have also found 6 other IMM alternatives.  I’ve linked up to them all this week so that my visitors can check them out for themselves.  I also posted about a possible alternative to the Debut Author Challenge.  I even promised to get some more reviews posted.  Then I sort of followed through here and here.  I’ve still got a bunch more reviews to write even!  I’m also in the process of reading The Selection by Kiera Cass and so far (I’m about 210 pages in) I have no idea why this book caused so much of a ruckus earlier this year.  No clue AT ALL.

  1. Ooh I loved the Percy series it’s aweome! Especilayy the last 2. And I’m reading Insurgent now it,s also awesome!! I’m doing my own IMM thing until we decide which one we’re going to mugrate too. 7 alternatives and I’m sure there will be more haha.

    • Thank you for stopping by! I’m loving Percy Jackson as well. I just have to transfer them to my e-reader now so I can start reading them. Yeah I’m pretty sure there will be more alternatives to IMM and I only participated in all of the ones I know about this week to get the word out about them. I can hardly wait to start reading Insurgent. I think I’ll re-read Divergent first so it’s all fresh on my mind when I get to Insurgent.

  2. Great idea! I’m trying out different alternative too, but doing them one at a time. So glad that we have so many great alternatives!

Your books look awesome! eBooks are a weakness of mine, as they’re so easy to load on my nook that I forget how many I have on my virtual TBR shelf. Sorry to hear that The Selection isn’t working for you, despite causing a big ruckus with others. I’ve had that happen once or twice where I couldn’t get into a book everyone else loved. We all have different tastes, and i’d love to see your thoughts on it if you’re able to finish it. Happy reading!

    • Thank you for stopping by! The Selection IS really working out for me. I just don’t understand all the negativity that’s been surrounding this book. E-books are a horrible weakness for me as well. I have 300+ that I’ve downloaded onto my nook, most I haven’t read yet and then I’ve got about 60 epub books on there too.

  3. Great mailbox. I love E-Books as well. Thanks for stopping by earlier. You can get a lot of them free. Try using pixelofink.com to find them. They always have new ones every day.

  4. Oohh the Percy Jackson series & Insurgent! I loved all 5 of the books & hopefully I should be stopping by B&N today to grab Insurgent.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I only read the first Percy Jackson book. It was OK but I didn’t feel any need to go on with the series (and lots of other books were demanding my attention.) Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blogs.

  6. Every time I go to B&N I have this urge to pick up the entire Percy Jackson series and i’m sure one day I will because the series sounds really good. Enjoy your books looks like you got some great ones.

  7. Love the Percy Jackson series. What are all your links crossed out? And btw I think the ruckus about The Selection, from what I understand some blogger didn’t like it and gave it a poor review, no idea who, and it was the reaction of the author and her publicist on twitter which from what I understand was sort of like an outright attack on book bloggers in general and how we’ve ruined reading or what not that was what the ruckus was about. I wasn’t blogging at the time, I was taking a break to deal with real life stuff, but basically that’s what I’ve been told about the situation. It had nothing to do with the content of the book, it was that the author and publisher really reacted poorly when one blogger who I guess was a popular one, didn’t like the book. Which if this is the case I don’t get at all, reviews are opinions and everyone is going to have a different one, and honestly it’s unrealistic to think that every blogger will like the same book. I’ve seen books I totally adored ripped to shred by other reviewers on Goodreads and books that I totally didn’t get the appeal on lauded with tons of five star reviews. Like personally I’ll never get why Stephen King is so popular, but he is and it’s just another example of how everyone views the world differently. And like one book I read and reviewed Beauty and the Beast by Hannah Howell, it was an excellent story in my personal opinion, but people tore it apart on Goodreads because they read the title and bought it assuming it was a retelling of the Disney story which it isn’t anything like that, so those readers felt ripped off even though if they’d even taken the time to so much as read the book synopsis they’d have known it wasn’t a retelling of the fairy tale so I kind of think it’s wrong to dis the book because they’re too lazy to read the blurb, but hey they’re entitled to their opinion, but the fuss was because I guess the author and her publicist don’t agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and felt that every blog that agrees to review a book should post raving reviews of everything they read. Except in my personal opinion that kind of defeats the purpose of a review blog. If all they did was applaud every book it would be like they’re doing the publicist or advertising agencies job and never actually offering honest opinions because it’s impossible that one person will adore every book they read. But anyway either way I hope you enjoy the book and that if you don’t well hopefully the author and her publicist have learned their lesson from the previous ruckus and accept your dislike gracefully knowing that yours is just one of many opinions and that even though you share your opinions via a book blog it’s to be expected that not every blogger will like the same stories.

  8. I need to read the Percy Jackson books soon! I have the five paperback books 🙂 And they are so pretty. Must do it soon. And oh, Insurgent is so good. ❤ Hope you enjoy it all 😀
Thank you for commenting on my mailbox. ❤

  9. Great books!!! I *need* to get my hands on Insurgent so badly! I haven’t read the Percy Jackson series, but I’ve seen a lot of positive talk about it so maybe I’ll get to it eventually. I hope you love all your new books!

Thanks for stopping by Book Cover Justice!

  10. Hi JR 🙂

Lots of great books this week! The only one I’m really familiar with is Insurgent, and I hope you love it! Your blog is another color today! Hehe.

Thanks for visiting my post!! And Goodluck finding the perfect meme above for you!! Have an awesome week!!:)

  11. I kind of like that there are so many different versions of these type of memes now instead of just IMM. Yay for Insurgent! I think everyone got that book this week! I’ve heard good things about the Percy Jackson series and own one or two of the books, but haven’t read them yet.

  12. Thanks for stopping by earlier! I’m looking into a few of the new memes you listed and have no idea what I want to do.

Great haul this week! Enjoy all your books! 🙂

  13. Lots of Percy Jackon’s books this week! It’s not a series for me (I tried) but I bet my students would love it. 😉

I hope you will like all of your books! Happy reading and thanks for stopping by!
